What is a modular home?

A Modular Home is a stick built home built in an environmentally safe setting, then brought to your site to be erected. This method of construction offers the customer higher quality workmanship, no stress about materials getting weathered as in site building, less money to construct, less time to move in to the house, less waste during the construction, etc. All of this is made possible because of the factory setting to build the home. The end result is a stick built home with less worries, less stress, less time, less money, and more equity.

How long does it take to build a modular home?

The average time to build a Modular Home depends on the job site, what is being built in addition to the Modular Home itself, and of course the weather. The general rule of thumb is 120 days from the date the order for the house is sent in to the factory.

Aren’t modular homes low in value and quality?

AHS only builds Off-Frame Modular homes by R-anell Homes, Inc. Their homes appraise exactly the same as site built homes giving you the same value. The quality surpasses the quality of a traditional site built home because the home is constructed in a factory using jigs to make each cut, no weather is effecting the materials, every aspect of the home goes through more inspections while being constructed, and there is more lumber used in construction for transportation reasons. All of AHS homes are built to meet and exceed all local and state building codes.

Absolutely, AHS homes are built to meet and actually exceed the very stringent North Carolina residential building codes. These are the same codes that traditional site builders build to.

How are modular homes stronger than site built homes?

Modular Homes use more lumber than an average site builder. They are built this way to endure traveling the road at 55 mph, then being lifted by a crane off the carrier and onto the permanent foundation. A typical site built home cannot withstand this type of treatment.

If a modular home is just as good as a site built home, how can they be lower in cost?

Because a Modular Home is built in a factory-controlled environment, to precisely engineered specifications, they are less expensive to produce. They buy all the material in bulk resulting in a much les cost per home than if you buy material for one home at a time. They also have factory labor which saves money as well. Production can occur rain or shine. There is less waste to account for and you don’t have to pay for replacing weather-damaged materials or materials being stole from the job site.
